Box Score 2 Central, S.C. – The Warriors fell to the Flying Fleet in double header action on Saturday afternoon in final scores of 9-4 and 15-2.
Southern Wesleyan recorded four hits, four runs and four RBIs in the loss to the Flying Fleet in game one of the Saturday doubleheader. Four Warriors registered a hit, with John Garrett hitting a double and Julio Justo hitting a triple. Garrett led the team with two RBIs in the loss. JJ Julian started the first game of the doubleheader and went 4.1 innings and allowed 10 hits and nine runs while facing 27 batters.
The Warriors recorded nine hits, two runs and two RBIs in the second game loss. DiMarkus Sanders and Julio Justo led the Warriors with two hits apiece. Conner Ewing hit his third home run of the season to lead the Warriors in home runs. Josh Antwine started the second game for the Warriors and went seven innings while allowing nine hits and six runs while facing 28 batters.

How It Happened
Game One:
The Flying Fleet struck first with a three run home run by Chris Rave to bring both Chaz Davey and Trevor Wood around to score and take a 3-0 lead over the Warriors in the first inning. The Warriors held the Fleet scoreless in the top of the second, but in the top of the third inning a double by Kyle Heiss and single by Taylor Maxey brought two more runs across the plate.
Erskine's Chaz Davey hit his tenth home run of the season in the top of the fourth to score William Ruby and give the Flying Fleet a 7-0 lead. The Fleet had two more runs in the top of the fifth on back-to-back solo home runs by Henry Faunce and Kyle Heiss.
Southern Wesleyan fought back in the bottom of the fifth inning. Drew Carson reached first base on an error and then Quinton Bent singled through the left side to move Carson to second. Bent and Carson each stole a base to put both runners in scoring position. DiMarkus Sanders walked to load the bases and bring John Garrett up to bat. Garrett doubled to left field to bring both Carson and Bent home and make the score 9-2.
The Warriors threatened again in the bottom of the seventh inning. Avery Mahon singled to left field and then Julio Justo, pinch hitting for Quinton Bent, tripled to right center to bring Mahon home. DiMarkus Sanders then ground out to third base, but Justo was able score on the play to make the final score 9-4.
Game Two:
The Flying Fleet struck first in the second game on Saturday afternoon, scoring on a sacrifice fly and ground out with the bases loaded to take a 2-0 lead over the Warriors. Southern Wesleyan kept the Fleet scoreless in the second inning, but they struck again in the top of the third inning on a sacrifice fly by Chris Rave to bring Taylor Maxey home to give the Flying Fleet a 3-0 lead over the Warriors.
With two outs in the top of the fifth inning, Maxey scored the fourth run for the Fleet on a passed ball. The passed ball was followed by Henry Faunce's second home run of the day to give the Flying Fleet a 5-0 lead over the Warriors. Josh Antwine was able to get out of the top of the fifth inning with a forced fly-out to end the inning.
The Warriors threatened in the bottom of the fifth inning with Julio Justo hitting a single to left field. Justin Brew pulled off a bunt single to move Justo to second base and put a Warrior in scoring position. With two Warriors on and no outs, Casey Woody hit a double down the left field line to bring Justo around home to put the Warriors on the board. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Conner Ewing hit his third home run of the season on a ball over the left field wall to bring the Warriors to 5-2 behind the Flying Fleet.
Erskine regained their four run lead in the top of the seventh inning on another home run by Henry Faunce to make the score 6-2. The Fleet scored two more runs in the top of the eighth inning to bring their lead to 8-2, and then scored seven runs in the top of the ninth inning to take a 15-2 victory over Southern Wesleyan.
What's Next
The Warriors will travel to Truett-McConnell to take on the Bears at 2 pm on March 7. They will then return home for a three game series against the Pfeiffer Falcons on March 10 and 11. March 11 will be Military Appreciation Day as the Warriors honor those who have served our country.
