Coach Gillespie Says…
"We struggled at the plate today, much like we have the first week of the season. Struggling to get runners on and when we do we fail to advance. This lack of consistency has forced us to pitch and play extremely well in the field. We played a clean game defensively, just had some very inopportune walks and a play or two in the field we didn't finish. I thought Mike Batten pitched another good game, he had some walks toward the end of his outing, perhaps due to fatigue early on, but he pitched well. Now we need to focus on consistency day-to-day and come out tomorrow ready to play well in the doubleheader."
How It Happened
The Warriors kept the Francis Marion Patriots scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning. With two men on, Kennedy flew out to centerfield to bring Pino around to score the first run for the Patriots. The Patriots went on to score another run on a sacrifice fly by Cooley to score Callahan.
The Patriots struck again in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the bases loaded, the Warriors walked in three runs. Francis Marion won game one of the three game series 5-0.
