Coach Morrell says…
"Today was a great atmosphere for homecoming, everyone that helped plan the day and all the fans were great. We were just a bit too inconsistent today. Some really good play, smart play, but we had a few moments of breakdowns which led to both goals. Credit to Chowan for a great game plan. We will learn from this and will help us finish the regular season strong next week."
How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan started the game versus the Chowan Hawks strong, with senior Beth Spence driving in a shot on the goal. However a save by goal keeper Olivia Borer kept the Warriors from putting a point on the board. The Hawks fought back, taking several shots on the goal, but the Warrior defense stood strong to protect their home ground. However, Hawk Carolina Lucci got around the Warrior defense to score the first goal of the game and give Chowan a 1-0 advantage.
The Warriors came back at the half fighting, with Charlie Brown and Ally Kisiel both taking shots. However, Chowan rallied back as Sabrina Henderson shot the ball around the hands of Courtney McNeill to score the second and final goal of the game. Ashley Romanowski and Sarah Baldwin each made shots, but neither could get the ball into the net as the Hawks won 2-0.
