Coach Morrell says…

"Tough one tonight.  We played really well in the first half, missed a good opportunity or two but were still up 1-0 at half.  All credit to King for the second half.  They came out and outplayed us and pressured us.  Really tough to lose the way we did, but I know we will learn from this and be better because of it."

How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan charged onto the field in the first half of the game versus the King Tornado.  Minutes into the first half, Aline Troyano drove the ball toward the net, but a save by Tornado goal keeper Olvia Drake kept the Warriors from putting points up.  Shots by Ally Kisiel and Rachel Curtis were also blocked.  With close to ten minutes remaining on the clock, Rachel Curtis passed the ball to Ashley Romanowski.  Romanowski drove the ball to the net to score and give the Warriors a 1-0 lead at the half.

The King Tornado were not going down without a fight, as Miranda Smith took several consecutive shots on goal, each one saved by Courtney McNeill.  Half- way through the second half of the game, the Tornado struck to tie the game on a goal by Catherine Walsh.  Southern Wesleyan fought back, but they could not come around the strong pressure by the Tornado as King won in a 2-1 final score.
