Warriors Drop Conference Opener to Lees-McRae

CENTRAL, S.C. - Southern Wesleyan University (0-4, 0-1) fell to Conference Carolinas member Lees-McRae College (1-3, 1-0) by a final score of 5-0, in the conference opener for both teams on Saturday afternoon at Childs Field.

The Bobcats struck in the 30th minute of play off of a goal by Cheyenne Warrick. Warrick's goal was assisted by Katie Jo Daniel.

The Warriors were able to keep the Bobcat attack at bay for the rest of the half as the score stayed at 1-0 at the intermission. LMC was able to out-shoot the Warriors 9-1 in the opening stanza.

SWU played strong defensively, but the Bobcats were able to break through in the 74th minute off of a penalty kick. The Bobcats finished off scoring in the 77th, 85th and 87th minute for the final tally by Autumn Esposito, Lena Langille (Emma McGovern) and Daniel.

Lees-McRae held a 23-4 advantage in shots and an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.

SWU will face non-conference opponent Toccoa Falls College on Wednesday, September 14th with kick-off set for 5:00 PM at Childs Field.
