Bears Fall to Warriors

CENTRAL, S.C.- Southern Wesleyan batted .300 in its 8-5 win against Truett-McConnell.

The Bears (24-18) got on the board first as they scored two runs in the top of the second inning. The Warriors (12-28) gained the lead in the bottom of the third as they scored four runs. Truett-McConnell scored one run in the top of the fourth to cut the deficit to one run. John Garrett drove in Luke Hostetler with a double and Trevor Walked scored Garrett with a single to stretch the lead to three runs in the bottom of the fifth. They added another run in the bottom of the sixth as Brad Bisko singled to drive in Matt Costa. The Bears scored two runs in the top of the eighth to cut the gap to two runs. The Warriors responded with another run in the bottom of the eighth to regain their three-run lead entering the ninth inning. In the top of the ninth, Truett-McConnell was able to put their first runner on base with a double. Southern Wesleyan forced a ground out, a pop out, and a line out to seal the victory.

Bisko went 3-for-5 with one RBI and one run. Hostetler batted 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Conner Ewing went 2-for-5 with one RBI and one run.

Andrew Howard (4-3) picked up his team-leading fourth win of the season as he pitched 4.1 innings, allowed two earned runs off of four hits, and had two strikeouts.  

The Warriors next travel to Emmanuel for a three-game series April 15-16 with the first game starting at 6 p.m. on Friday.
