Box Score 2 WILSON, N.C.- Southern Wesleyan batted .200 in its 4-1 win and 4-2 loss to Barton.
In game one, the Warriors (14-18, 3-7 CC) got on the board first in the top of the second inning as Lizzie Fela hit a solo homerun to centerfield. The Bulldogs (8-15, 3-7 CC) tied the game in the bottom of the third as they scored one run. Sara Sweatt scored on a throwing error by the catcher and Fela hit her second homerun of the game and drove in Allison Barbee to give Southern Wesleyan a three-run lead in the top of the fifth. Barton was able to get two hits in the final three innings, but left three runners on base to seal the win for the Warriors.
Fela went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, two runs, and two homeruns. Sweatt batted 1-for-3 with one run and a double.
Lucy Wolff (6-7) pitched seven innings, allowed one run off of four hits, and had one strikeout.
In game two, the Bulldogs scored one run in the bottom of the third and two runs in the bottom of the fifth for a 3-0 lead. Southern Wesleyan cut the deficit to one run in the top of the sixth as Fela singled to drive in Sweatt and Katie Byrd scored Barbee with a sacrifice fly. Barton added another run in the bottom of the sixth to give them a two-run cushion heading into the seventh inning. In the top of the seventh, the Warriors went three up and three down to end the game.
Hunter Hoskins (7-6) pitched three innings and allowed one run off of five hits.
Southern Wesleyan will next host Converse April 2 for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
