Warriors Split Doubleheader with Lions

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga.- Southern Wesleyan batted .275 in its 10-3 win and 14-1 loss to Emmanuel.

In game one, the Warriors (12-16, 1-5 CC) got on the board first as they scored four runs in the top of the first inning. The Lions (16-13, 3-4 CC) scored one run in the bottom of the first. Allison Barbee hit a three-run homerun in the top of the fourth to stretch the lead to six runs. They added another run in the top of the fifth as Katie Byrd hit her first homerun of the season with a solo homerun in the top of the fifth. Emmanuel cut the lead to five runs as they scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth. In the top of the sixth, Barbee scored Sara Sweatt with a sacrifice fly to right field and Lizzie Fela hit a solo homerun to stretch the lead to seven runs. Southern Wesleyan allowed one hit and the Lions left two runners on base in the last two innings to seal the win for the Warriors.

Barbee went 1-for-4 with four RBIs, one run, and one homerun. Fela batted 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBIs, and a homerun. Byrd went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs, and a homerun.

Lucy Wolff (5-6) pitched 5.0 innings, allowed three runs off of six runs, and had two strikeouts.

In game two, Emmanuel scored two runs in the bottom of the first and 12 runs in the bottom of the second. Barbee hit a solo homerun to score the only run in the game for the Warriors in the top of the third for her second homerun of the day.
