Warriors Fall to Bears

CLEVELAND, Ga.- Southern Wesleyan left seven runners on base in its 8-3 loss to Truett-McConnell.

The Warriors (10-14) got on the board first as Trevor Walker hit a sacrifice fly to score Matt Costa in the top of the second inning. The Bears (17-9) tied the game in the bottom of the third as they scored one run. Southern Wesleyan regained the lead in the top of the fourth as Walker reached base on a fielder's choice and scored Costa and Devin Patrick. Truett-McConnell added three runs in the bottom of the fifth, three runs in the bottom of the sixth, and one run in the bottom of the eighth to give them a five-run lead. The Warriors were able to put a runner on base in the top of the ninth, but they were unable to drive in any runs to give the victory to the Bears.

Costa went 1-for-3 with two runs and a walk. Patrick batted 1-for-4 with one run.

Bryce Bearden (1-2) pitched 4.2 innings, allowed four runs off of seven hits, and had one strikeout.

Southern Wesleyan next travels to Lander tomorrow March 16 at 6 p.m.
