Warriors Drop Doubleheader to Trojans in Season Opener

ANDERSON, S.C.­- Allison Barbee went 1-for-4 with one RBI as Southern Wesleyan dropped its season opener against Anderson 3-1 and 8-0.

In game one, the Trojans (3-1) got on the board first as they scored off of a walk with the bases loaded in the bottom of the third inning. They scored again in the same manner in the bottom of the fourth. The Warriors (0-2) cut the deficit to one run as Barbee hit a double and drove in Sara Sweatt in the top of the sixth. Anderson added to their lead with one run in the bottom of the sixth. All three batters for Southern Wesleyan struck out in the top of the seventh to end the game.

Hunter Hoskins (0-1) started the game, pitched six innings, and allowed three runs on seven hits. She also had three strikeouts.

In game two, the Trojans scored five runs in the first two innings to give themselves a 5-0 lead. They added two runs in the fourth and one run in the fifth.

Barbee (0-1) started the game and pitched four innings. She struck out five batters and allowed seven runs off of six hits.

The Warriors next travel to Francis Marion for a doubleheader Feb. 6 at 2 p.m.
