Crusaders Sweep Doubleheader Against Warriors

CENTRAL, S.C.- Southern Wesleyan allowed 20 runs in its 12-1 and 8-1 losses to Belmont Abbey.

In game one, the Crusaders (12-3-1, 6-0 CC) scored two runs in the top of the second inning and one run in the top of the third for a 3-0 lead. The Warriors (7-8, 0-3 CC) scored their only run in the bottom of the fourth as Trevor Walker singled to score Devin Patrick. Belmont Abbey added three runs in the top of the fifth, four runs in the top of the sixth, and one run in the top of the seventh to close out the game.

Luke Hostetler went 2-for-2. Walker batted 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Tyler Rio (1-2) pitched five innings, allowed five runs off of seven hits, and had two strikeouts.

In game two, the Crusaders scored one run in the top of the second and one run in the top of the sixth for a 2-0 lead. Southern Wesleyan scored one run in the bottom of the sixth as Hostetler singled to drive in DiMarkus Sanders. Belmont Abbey put the game out of reach as they scored five runs in the top of the eighth.

Sanders went 2-for-4 with one run. Walker batted 2-for-3 with a double.

Josh Core (0-2) pitched six innings, allowed two runs off of nine hits, and had two strikeouts.

The Warriors next travel to Anderson March 1 at 3 p.m.
