Warriors Fall to Patriots

FLORENCE, S.C.- Southern Wesleyan had ten hits, but left nine runners on base in its 4-1 loss to Francis Marion.

The Warriors (5-3) got on the board first in the top of the fifth inning as Trevor Walker singled to right field to drive in Avery Mahon. The Patriots (8-0) scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth and one run in the bottom of the eighth. Southern Wesleyan went three up and three down in the top of the ninth to close out the game.

Mahon went 1-for-4 with one run. Walker hit 1-for-4 with one RBI. DiMarkus Sanders hit 2-for-5 with one double.

Josh Core (0-1) started the game, pitched 5.2 innings, allowed two earned runs off of six hits, and had two strikeouts.

The Warriors next host Mars Hill Feb. 17 at 4 p.m.
