Box Score 2 FLORENCE, S.C.- Southern Wesleyan gave up five or more runs in two different innings in its 9-2 and 6-0 losses to Francis Marion.
In game one, the Patriots (7-0) got on the board first with one run in the bottom of the first inning. They added another run in the bottom of the fourth. The Warriors (5-2) responded with one run in the top of the seventh as DiMarkus Sanders scored off of a throwing error by the second baseman. Francis Marion countered with seven runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to stretch their lead to 9-1. Southern Wesleyan added another run in the top of the eighth as Quinton Bent scored off of a ground out by Avery Mahon.
Sanders went 2-for-4 with one run. Bent hit 1-for-3 with one run.
J.J. Julian (1-1) started the game, pitched 5.2 innings, allowed two runs off of six hits, and had four strikeouts.
In game two, the Patriots scored five runs in the bottom of the first and one run in the bottom of the sixth while holding the Warriors to two hits.
Tyler Rio (1-1) started the game, pitched 5.2 innings, allowed four earned runs off of seven hits, and had three strikeouts.
Southern Wesleyan will finish its third game of the series against Francis Marion tomorrow at 12 p.m.
