Warriors Challenge, but are Unable to Upset Saints

Box Score

Warriors fight hard, but unable to pull ahead of number one Limestone.

The Southern Wesleyan University Warriors came ready to play against the Limestone College Saints.  They did not let the fact that they were the number eight seed factor into their spirit as they took the field against the Saints.  The Warriors were able to keep the Saints scoreless, despite the twelve shots on goal that the Saints took in the first half of the game.  The Warriors were able to make two shots on goal in the first half.

The Warriors did not slow down in the second half of the game.  The Saints were unable to score against the Warriors until Naiara Kapstein got around the Warrior defense to score the lone goal and winning the game for the Limestone Saints.

"So extremely proud of this team," said Head Women's Soccer Coach Corey Morrell.  He continued, "They battled for 90 minutes and left everything on the field.  We have a ton of respect for Limestone, they are the number one seed and nationally ranked for a reason.  They had a tremendous upper 90 shot and that's what it took to beat us.  It's a testament to how hard this fights for each other, the heart they have and the discipline to play as one.  I hurt for them, but am in awe of their desire!"

Courtney McNeill contributed with 10 saves in the loss.  The Warriors took a total of three shots on the goal during the contest.  The Warriors record becomes 6-11-1.  The Limestone College Saints go to 16-1.  The Saints will advance to the Conference Carolinas Semifinals.
