How It Happened

The Lions attacked early as a foul outside the box allowed Reagan Hill to take a free kick.  Hill sent the ball up into the upper corner of the net to give Emmanuel the advantage just two minutes into the half.  Jillian Aldrich looked to extend on the Lions lead, but Katelyn O'Neill was able to collect the ball to prevent Emmanuel from extending on their lead.  The Warriors answered with attacks on the net by Vitallia Benforte and Camila Blanco, but Ana Ramirez-Cortes thwarted each attack to keep Southern Wesleyan off the board.

Emmanuel continued to challenge the Warriors as Jillian Aldrich got the ball over to Brianna Nguyen.  Nguyen sent the ball into the back of the net to allow the Lions to take a 2-0 goal advantage.  Alli Dalton put up an attack on the net, but Ana Ramirez-Cortes knocked the ball away.  Southern Wesleyan continued to challenge as Bailey Meyer took a shot on the goal, but it just missed the net.  The Warriors would not back down as Vitallia Benforte rushed the ball down the field.  Benforte sent the ball up toward the net and then Laugane Dion finished the play as she knocked the ball into the back of the net to get the Warriors on the board.  With just over a minute left on the clock, a hand ball in the box allowed the Warriors to take a penalty shot.  Karina Pashkovets came up to the mark and sent the ball into the goal to allow the Warriors to finish the game in a 2-2 draw.
