Warriors score one, but are unable to pull ahead in tie against Crusaders.

The tension was high as the Warriors took on the Crusaders.  The game was scoreless with a minute left in the first half of the game.  North Greenville scored first with a goal by Rylee Marks, but the Warriors countered with a goal seconds later by junior midfielder Lily Troyano.  Troyano was assisted by fellow midfielder Kayla Doyle.  With the game tied 1-1, the Warriors fought to gain the upper hand with 9 shots on goal, but they could not prevail.

The game was forced into an overtime period.  Neither the Warriors nor the Crusaders could pull ahead in the first overtime, leading to a second overtime period.  The Warrior pushed hard to pull ahead and beat the Crusaders.  With seconds to spare, the Warriors almost scored, but the shot went high leaving the game in a 1-1 tie.

"I am so proud of this team," said Head Women's Soccer Coach Corey Morrell.  He continued, "We did not start out all that well, but we kept our heads up and kept fighting until we found a little bit of rhythm to our play.  We gave up a goal just before half on a corner, but then to attack the game and score 45 seconds later is a testament to where this team is mentally.  Really wanted a result from this game and fought until the final second to get one.  I love their effort and desire!"

Courtney McNeill contributed with 9 saves in the tie.  The Warriors record becomes 4-10-1 with their first tie of the season.  Their Conference Carolinas record goes to 2-6-1.  The North Greenville University Crusaders go to 2-10-2 and 0-8-2.

The Warriors will next travel on Tuesday, October 25 where they will take on Converse at 7 p.m.  They will return home on October 29 to take on the University of Mount Olive for Senior Night at Childs Field.
