Box Score CENTRAL, S.C. - The Southern Wesleyan women's soccer team fell 2-0 in Sunday's contest against Barton College. With the loss, Southern Wesleyan falls to 1-6 overall and 0-4 in the conference. Barton improves to 3-2-2 and 2-1-2 in Conference Carolinas.
The first half of Sunday's game was scoreless as both teams struggled to find the back of the net. About 13 minutes into the second half, Emily Futral netted the first goal of the game to give Barton the lead. At the 64: 37 mark the Bulldogs' Ashley Batchelor would add one of her one as Futral gave Batchelor a pass at the top of the box that Batchelor sent into the upper left corner of the net, out of the reach of Warrior goalkeeper Courtney McNeill.
McNeill would pick up nine saves in 90 minutes in goal. Barton would finish the game with 23 shots to Southern Wesleyan's four. Both Southern Wesleyan and Barton had two corner kicks in the Bulldogs' win.
The Warriors return to action Wednesday, Sept. 30 at Mars Hill. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. The Lions are 1-7 on the season.
