Box Score CENTRAL, S.C. - In a game that was closer than the score projected, Southern Wesleyan fell 3-1 to Emmanuel College on Tuesday afternoon. The Warriors are now 1-5 on the season and 0-3 in conference action, while Emmanuel improves to 2-4 and 2-2 in Conference Carolinas.
Southern Wesleyan senior Brii Hydes scored at the 24:50 mark off of a penalty kick, sneaking the ball in the lower left corner past the Lions goalkeeper. The goal was the first of the season for Hydes. 14 minutes later the Lions would be rewarded with a penalty kick of their own as Emma Tamblyn netted a goal to even the score at one apiece. The 1-1 tie would hold until the half.
12 minutes into the second half, the Lions took the lead as Allison Edenfield scored off of a Sierra Gomez pass. Edenfield would tack on another goal in the 88th minute, this time with an assist from Stephanie Lamm.
Emmanuel led in shots 26-4 and had an advantage in corner kicks 10-1. Courtney McNeill recorded 10 saves in the outing.
Southern Wesleyan hosts Barton College Saturday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. Admission is free to all home women's soccer games.
