Warriors Fall at Lees-McRae Saturday Afternoon

Box Score

BANNER ELK, N.C. - The Southern Wesleyan women's soccer team fell 3-0 at Lees-McRae on Saturday afternoon. With the loss the Warriors fall to 1-4 and 0-2 in Conference Carolinas. Lees-McRae improves to 2-3 and 1-0 in conference play.

"I thought we defended well," said head coach Corey Morrell. "We worked well as a unit, contained them most of the game, and didn't give them many good chances as most of their shots were contested or were from a distance. I have to give lots of credit to Lees-McRae and their coaching staff. They were very well coached and put us under a lot of pressure."

The Warrior defense started off strong, not allowing a goal until 40 minutes into the game. With a 1-0 lead, the Bobcats came out of the half strong. They added goals in the 61st and 73 minute and their 3-0 lead would hold. Courtney McNeill played the entire game in goal for Southern Wesleyan and recorded seven saves.

Morrell's team returns to action Tuesday, Sept. 22 against Emmanuel. The game will be played at 5 p.m. at Childs Field, followed by a matchup between the men's teams at 7 p.m. Admission is free to all home soccer games. Follow @SWUWomensSoccer and @SWUAthletics on Twitter for more details.
