CLEVELAND, Ga. – Southern Wesleyan baseball won for the second time in three games, defeating Truett-McConnel 3-2 in a midweek contest Tuesday afternoon at Mize Field.

The Warriors took an early 2-0 lead in the second with a pair of runs. The first run scored as Daniel Coleman and Julio Lara  picked up back-to-back one-out doubles. Matt Costa followed with a double of his own to score Justin Brew who came on to pinch run for Lara. SWU loaded the bases after that but left the sacks packed, three of their eight men left on base on the night.

SWU tacked on a run in the sixth to take a 3-0 lead. Matt Costa picked up his second RBI of the game on a sacrifice fly to score as Dan Williams scored. Williams led off the inning with a double before moving to third on an error.

Costa had two hits in addition to his two RBI on the day. He also picked up a one-out single in the eighth. He was the lone Warrior to have a multi-hit game but one of eight to register a hit in the game.

The Bears scored both of their runs in the eighth, one on a double play and another on a wild pitch. All six of their men left on base came in the first five innings.
