TOCCOA, Ga. - Alana Grant finished second individually and the Southern Wesleyan women's cross country team also recorded a second place finish in the Toccoa Falls Invitational on Oct. 31.
Bob Jones won the tournament with a team total of 49 minutes. Southern Wesleyan was close behind at 51 minutes. JTU, Columbia International and Truett McConnell finished third through fifth, respectively.
"This was a strong meet for us," said coach Greg Thiel. "We think we are really ready for nationals. This was the best top to bottom finish this year for both the men and women."
Grant finished with a time of 20:13, just 19 seconds behind Alexis Zwilling of Columbia International. Michelle Last finished in sixth place with a time of 21:06. Kira Emitt was the third Warrior in the top 10, finishing in 21:17.
Sarah Cash ran the course in 22 minutes flat and recorded a 13th place finish in the process. Becky Tarone recorded a time of 22:46 (21st place), Ashley Rhodes finished in 23:39 (26th place), and Ann-Marie Martin finished in 30th place with a time of 24:30.
The team concludes fall competition with the NCCAA National Championship in Houghton, N.Y. on Nov. 14.
