Box Score
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan women's soccer suffered a tough defeat on Saturday as they fell victim to Bob Jones University by a score of 3-2.
The Warriors were never able to take the upper hand as the Bruins got on the board early and SWU was forced to play catch-up. BJU found the back of the net in the 5th minute as Rebecca Luttrell beat SWU keeper Krista Anonie low into the corner from the 18-yard line.
Ruva Chimedza answered for the Warriors in the 14th minute, chipping the keeper from more than 30 yards after winning the ball with a tackle. Chimedza notched the first goal for the Warriors in each of the past two seasons.
The Warriors (0-2) were more dangerous in this game than on Thursday against Anderson with 12 shots including putting eight on target. The Bruins were equally dangerous with 17 shots.
BJU took the lead just before halftime in the 43rd minute as Anna Daulton received a cross just in front of the six-yard box and beat Anonie who didn't have much of a chance. Leah Johnson answered for SWU in the 69th minute, again chipping the keeper for her first goal of the season.
Bob Jones again had an answer as Natasha Walters scored in the 77th minute in almost the exact same way as the second goal, off a cross that came right in front of the six-yard box. The Warriors had only two shots the rest of the way.
The Warriors will be seeking their first win on Tuesday as they head to Truett-McConnell for a 5 p.m. tilt. These teams did not meet a year ago but the Lady Bears took the last meeting in 2012 by a score of 4-0.
