CENTRAL, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan women's soccer picked up their first win of the season on Tuesday night with a 3-0 win over Toccoa Falls at Childs Field.
The Warriors came into the match with just two goals on the season before exploding for three on Tuesday night. Kaitie Aldrich notched her first of the season in the 27th minute off a cross from Leah Johnson. Johnson was in the middle of the second goal as well, setting by Brii Hydes on a corner as Hydes headed home the ball for her first goal of the season in the 39th minute.
The Warriors took a season-high 27 shots in the contest with seven coming off the foot of Aldrich. Grace Taylor added six shots and her first goal of the season, scoring in the 54th minute by beating TFC keeper Emily Truelove in the lower right corner.
SWU (1-6) kept Truelove busy all night long, putting 14 shots on target. Aldrich, Taylor and Beth Spence each put three on frame in the match. The Eagles managed just one shot in the contest.
Courtney McNeil recorded her first career shutout in her fourth career start. McNeil wasn't tested in the match as she didn't need a save in the match. The shutout is the first for the Warriors since a 1-0 win over Point University in Sept. 2013.
The Warriors will hit the road again this weekend, traveling up the road to Belmont Abbey for a conference match on Saturday at 12 p.m.
