Warriors place 2nd at Warrior Invite, Fredrickson 3rd

CENTRAL, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan men's cross country took 2nd in the annual Warrior Invitational held on SWU's campus on Saturday morning.  The event doubled as the NCCAA South Regional with both events being claimed by Warner University.

John Fredrickson stayed with the leaders for most of the race but Warner's Daniel Marin took the individual title with a time of 28:26.12, followed by his teammate Edward Barreto in 28:42.36.  Fredrickson finished third with a time of 28:51.11.

The Warriors were able to take 2nd place overall, narrowly beating out Bob Jones.  The Bruins finished with 75 points while the Warriors earned 73 points. Warner posted 40 points as they put all five scorers in the top-15.  The Warriors top five finished in the top 25 with Stephen Spearman also landing in the top-10 at 7th place with a time of 29:09.97.

Robert Gwinn finished 17th with a time of 29:46.06, just ahead of BJU's Josh Rush as the Warriors were able to hold off the Bruins.  Jacob Rivera placed 26th (30:43.92) and Andrew Hochhalter placed 30th (31:03.42) to round out the scorers for the Warriors.

The Warriors will take next week off from racing before heading to Florida State University for a race on Friday, Oct. 10.
