Box Score CENTRAL, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan women's soccer dropped their second straight in conference play, 5-0 to Lees-McRae on Wednesday night on the women's home opener.
The Warriors (0-5, 0-2 CC) fell behind early, giving up a goal in the 11th minute as Sarah Mahar found the back of the net. The Bobcats (2-3, 2-0 CC) added another goal before halftime before adding three more in the second half, including two within a minute of each other.
SWU struggled offensively but did manage to create a few chances and ended with seven shots, second most on the season. Grace Taylor took a season-high four shots, putting two on target for the Warriors. Courtney McNeil made 13 stops in goal for the Warriors, playing for the injured Krista Anonie.
LMC is the defending Conference Carolinas regular season champion having posted an 8-1 record a year ago and dominated possession in this contest. The Bobcats fired off 38 shots, putting 18 on target. Meagan Thornton took eight shots and scored twice while assisting on another for LMC while both Molly Ames and Sarah Mahar took six shots.
The Warriors will hit the road once again this weekend, travelling to Barton for a 5 p.m. start.
