Warriors split with Truett-McConnell

CLEVELAND, Ga. – Southern Wesleyan baseball snapped a 10-game losing streak with a 10-3 win in game one before dropping game two to Truett-McConnell on Wednesday afternoon.


The Warriors will host No. 3 Faulkner on Friday and Saturday to close out their home slate.  Friday's game will begin at 6 p.m. with Saturday's doubleheader slatted for 1 p.m.


Game One
The Warriors busted out the bats with 14 hits and 10 runs in game one, winning 10-3 behind Justin Adams' solid pitching performance.  The senior tossed six innings allowing just nine hits and three runs.  He walked three and struck out six to improve to 2-3 on the season.


Five players recorded two hits as the Warriors reached double-digits in hits for eighth time on the year.  Tyler Lollis got things going in the first with a two-run double, knocking in Mike Hyman and Joe Boudolf.  Lollis finished with two hits and three RBI.  Hyman and Boudolf each had two hits as well.


The Bears got one run back in the bottom of the inning but the Warriors plated six in the second to seize control.  Two errors and a balk help contribute to the Warrior runs but Andrew Howard, Tyler Lollis, Stephen Wyatt and J.J. Julian all had run-scoring hits.


The Warriors added a run in the third and sixth.  Truett-McConnell scored twice in the seventh.


Game Two 
Truett-McConnell scored five runs on just four hits as the Warriors walked six and committed two errors.  Mike Hyman picked up two more hits as the Warriors were held to six overall.


The Bears got on the board first with two runs in the third and after the Warriors got within one with a run in the fourth.  Truett-McConnell came back with three runs in the fifth.  SWU added a run in the top of the seventh as Joe Boudolf doubled home Justin Brew.


Josh Smith picked up the win for Truett-McConnell with a five-inning effort while J.J. Julian suffered the loss after giving up all five runs in 4.2 innings of work.
