Cozad, Moore lead Warriors to 4th at Emmanuel

HARTWELL, Ga. – Southern Wesleyan men's golf led after round one but finished in a tie for fourth at the Emmanuel Invitational at Cateechee Golf Club on March 24-25.  SWU's Tyler Cozad placed in a three-way tie for second with a 152.


The Warriors held a two-stroke lead after Monday's first round after shooting a 301 but backpedaled on Tuesday with a 327.  Emmanuel College was the most consistent team over the two days, winning by four strokes with a 617 (308-309).  After taking four scores 76 and under in round one the Warriors counted four scores over 77 on Tuesday as they fell back to fourth.


Zach Moore led the team and was second in the tournament after Monday with a two-over 74.  Deven Broadaway from Truett-McConnell was four-under with a 68 after Monday.  Moore came back with a 79 on Tuesday to fall back to a tie for fifth.  SWU's Tyler Cozad finished four shots behind the individual medalist, Joel Sawyer from Emmanuel, with a 152 (75-77).  Cozad finished in a three-way tie for second.


The Warriors will be back in action on April 7-8 in Indianapolis before finishing the season at the SSAC Championships in Montgomery, Ala. on April 14-16, playing for a spot in the NAIA National Championship.
