MCKENZIE, Tenn. – Southern Wesleyan baseball lost their sixth straight and failed to win a game in a weekend series for the first time all year with a 10-1 loss at the hands of Bethel (Tenn.) on Saturday afternoon.
Another big inning allowed Bethel to come away with the victory as the Wildcats score five in the fifth. Bethel had three hits in the inning, the big blow coming on a two-run double. The Warriors hit also hit two batters and walked two in the inning. The Wildcats led 7-0 after that inning and added a run in the sixth and two in the eighth.
The lone run for the Warriors came in the sixth as Hyman led off the frame with a double. Hyman then stole third and scored on a groundout from Julio Lara. The Warriors had their next best scoring opportunity in the top of the fifth with the score 2-0. Daniel Williams led off with a single and Tyler Bice followed two batters later with a single of his own. After that a fielder's choice and a strikeout ended the threat and left two runners on.
The Warriors continue on their six-game road swing with a doubleheader at Truett-McConnell on Tuesday beginning at 2 p.m.
