No. 7 AUM overpowers SWU softball

CENTRAL, S.C. – No. 7 Auburn-Montgomery was too much to overcome on this day as the Warhawks swept the Warriors 9-1 and 12-2 on Saturday afternoon.

SWU hits the road this week with three conference doubleheaders starting at Brenau on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Game One
The Warriors mustered just five hits and were held to one run, a solo home run from Lizzie Fela, as AUM won 9-1 in six innings.  The Warhawks had 13 hits and scored six times in the second inning.  Six of their hits came in that big six-run second.

Fela had two of the team's five hits including a fourth inning home run, her sixth homer of the year.  She also singled in the sixth.  Jenn Jacoby took the loss in the circle for the Warriors to fall to 4-3.  Outside of that second inning she only allowed three runs to the No. 7 Warhawks.  Cassie Daniels picked up her seventh win to improve to 7-2 with five innings of work.

Game Two
The Warriors cut the deficit to 5-2 with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth but SWU was held in check all afternoon.  In that fourth inning Callie Wayne poked a single over the top of third base with one out and as followed by a single from Katie Jacoby.  A wild pitch put both runners in scoring position and Allison Parker delivered a single to right to score both runners.

Parker had two of the six hits for the team as SWU managed just six hits off of Taylor Powell in six innings of work.  Three of those six hits came in the fourth inning.  AUM piled up 15 hits off of Allison Barbee and 12 runs, five coming in the seventh inning.
