Box Score YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – An early lead quickly evaporated as Southern Wesleyan gave up six runs in the fourth and four in the fifth to Young Harris in falling 11-5 on Tuesday afternoon to the Mountain Lions.
The Warriors, playing on the road for the first time this year, jumped out to an early lead, scoring once in the first and four in the third. Julio Lara delivered an RBI double in the first to score J.J. Julian who walked earlier in the inning.
In the third the Warriors (6-9) took advantage of two errors as three of the four runs were unearned. Andrew Howard scored the first run on an error off the bat of Julian after Howard had singled to lead off the inning. Daniel Williams knocked home Julian with a single later in the inning and Lara scored on a bases loaded fielder's choice from Joe Henderson. Matt Arant also knocked home a run in the inning to score the final run of the inning.
Julian threw up blanks on the mound in the first three innings, not allowing a hit in the process. The fourth was a different story as the Mountain Lions pounded out six hits and scored six times. Five of those runs scored with two outs after a one-out home run from Adam Moore. Tim O'Callaghan relieved Julian late in the inning as Julian lasted 3.2 innings, giving up four hits and runs. O'Callaghan went 2.1 innings and allowed eight hits and four runs. Justin Adams allowed one run on two hits over the final two innings.
Matt Arant produced four hits for the Warriors and Julio Lara had three hits as the offense tied the season high of 13 hits. The Warriors left 13 men on base though as the team struggled to find hits with runners on base.
The Warriors will be back in action on Wednesday, heading to Point University for a single game at 3 p.m.
