Warriors take 17th behind Fredrickson at NCCAA Nationals

HOUGHTON, N.Y. – Southern Wesleyan men's cross country placed 17th at the annual NCCAA National Meet hosted by Houghton College on Saturday afternoon.

John Fredrickson led the team with a 46th placement, running the 8k course in a time of 26:57.1.  The Warriors also placed 17th last year at the meet in Cedarville, Ohio. Fredrickson led the Warriors in that race as well, finishing 60th in the larger field.

Lee was the team champion as they placed 3rd and 4th on the individual side and placed their five scorers in the top-25.  Oklahoma Christian narrowly edged Emmanuel (GA) for second.  Emmanuel did have three in the top-10 including the individual champion, Tucker Hilley who ran a time of 25:05.8.

The Warriors' Stephen Spearman placed 78th overall and was the first SWU runner behind Fredrickson with a time of 27:56.3.  He was followed by Robert Gwinn who turned in a time of 28:33.9.  Freshman Jacob Rivera was the fourth scorer for the Warriors with a time of 29:14.8, just two seconds ahead of Andrew Hochhalter.  Erik Delgado (29:52.3) and Jon Gibbon (31:31.3) also competed.
