CENTRAL, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan women's soccer dropped their final game in Conference Carolinas action on the season, losing to the University of Mount Olive 4-0 at Childs Field. The Warriors close out the season next Friday at home against Palm Beach Atlantic.
Mount Olive led 1-0 at halftime before scoring three times in a 10-minute span late in the second half. The Warriors managed just four shots in the game but did put three on target as Grace Taylor led the way in both categories with two each.
Krista Anonie made eight saves in net for the Warriors and protected the goal area well during the day, but was just under pressure from the start of the match up until the finish. Mount Olive's Katie Batson notched the lone goal in the first half, heading in a ball off a corner after a scrum for the ball.
Jess Hickey scored the second goal in the 71st minute, finding a rebound and firing it past an outstretched Anonie. Hickey left after the goal with a leg injury. Nichole Poppe and Hannah Kirk closed out the scoring in the 75th and 81st minutes.
The Warriors will close out the season on Friday by hosting Palm Beach Atlantic in a non-conference matchup at 6 p.m. The Warriors will honor seniors Leah Johnson and Kaitie Aldrich before the game.
