Warriors turned back by Converse

Box Score

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan women's soccer played one of the top teams in Conference Carolinas tight for nearly the full 90 minutes before succumbing to a 2-0 defeat against Converse College.

Converse notched the first goal in the 36th minute and the Warriors played even until the Valkyries scored again in the 85th minute.  SWU managed two shots on the day, one each from Leah Johnson and Grace Taylor.

Krista Anonie was tested all night and turned away seven shots, her highest total in three games.  Converse took 21 shots in the match but was able to put just nine of those on target.  They also took all nine corner kicks in the match.

The Warriors return home to close out the season for their final two matches.  Their final conference match will be on Saturday against Mount Olive at 3 p.m. with the regular season finale on Nov. 7.
