HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan men's cross country ran at the Sand Shark Invitational on Saturday, placing 31st in the huge field of 37.
The Warriors were led by Stephen Spearman who placed 126th in the field of 303. Spearman turned in a time of 28:09.15. William Carey's Geoffrey Kipchumba won the race in a time of 24:28.43, holding off Embry-Riddle's Alec Hernandez who finished four seconds back.
Sophomore Robert Gwinn finished second on the team in 141st overall with a time of 28:33.88. Gwinn's time was initial left off the official results which led to the Warriors originally being placed 33rd instead of 31st overall.
Freshman Jacob Rivera turned in a solid performance on Saturday as well, placing second on the team and 164th overall with a time of 29:04.97. Andrew Hochhalter followed Rivera in 175th place with a time of 29:17.41. John Fredrickson finished further back than he's accustomed, placing 180th overall and 4th on the team with a time of 29:29.06. Erik Delgado rounded out the scorers with a 190th place finish with a time of 29:56.28.
The Warriors head to Toccoa Falls next Saturday to close out the regular season before heading to New York for the NCCAA National Meet on Nov. 15 to close out the year.
