FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – Southern Wesleyan snapped a three-game losing streak on Saturday, defeating archrival Emmanuel 1-0 in a matchup of the newest members of Conference Carolinas.
Grace Taylor found the back of the net shortly after halftime for her second goal of the season as the Warriors came away with their first win since Sept. 30 against Toccoa Falls. Taylor's game-winner was set up by freshman Beth Spence. Taylor dribbled into the box and fired a shot into the upper-90 of the goal in the 50th minute.
That shot from Taylor was just the second in the match for the Warriors who managed just four in the game. Emmanuel took 16 shots, eight in each half. Liene Vaciete and Emma Tamblyn led the Lions' attack with four shots each.
Krista Anonie made three saves for the Warriors to notch her first shutout of the season and the second of the year for the team. The clean sheet was the fourth in Anonie's career.
The Warriors will travel to Bristol, Tenn. to visit King College on Wednesday for an afternoon tilt before returning home for Homecoming next Saturday against North Greenville.
