CENTRAL, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan women's soccer dropped their second straight on Saturday afternoon, falling to Limestone 2-0 in a matchup of Conference Carolinas rivals.
The Warriors fell behind in the 19th minute as Zoe Fisher held off a defender and netted her sixth goal of the season, beating SWU keeper Krista Anonie. SWU didn't create a volume of chances but Grace Taylor was able to create dangerous opportunities.
Taylor slipped behind the defense early in the first half but her shot was saved by LC keepter Alexis Dunbar. Taylor's speed allowed her to run onto balls that were played in behind the back line of the Saints. That was the lone shot for the Warriors in the half.
In the second half the Warriors were able to even out chances a little bit more than in the first half. In the first half the Saints took 17 shots to just one for the Warriors but in the second it was a 9-3 advantage for the Saints.
Taylor hit the crossbar in the 55th minute, maybe the best chance all day for the Warriors. Ariail Lankford had a shot blocked inside the 18 in the 57th minute as the Warriors were able to counter after back-to-back corner kicks from Limestone. Taylor again had a shot saved by Dunbar in the 69th minute as the Warriors kept looking for the equalizer.
Zoe Fisher netter her second of the game in the 75th as the Warriors were unable to find another chance on the night.
SWU is back in action at home against Erskine on Wednesday at 5 p.m. The Warriors defeated the Flying Fleet last year by a score of 3-1.
