CENTRAL, S.C. – The women's cross country team at Southern Wesleyan placed second behind Brenau at the annual Warrior Invitational on Saturday.

The women's depth played dividends on this day as the Warriors had three top-20 runners.  Rebecca Watson led the Warriors for the first time this year, taking 9th with a time of 21:45.  Sierra Zemanick wasn't too far behind in 12th place with a time of 21:57.

The Warriors actually tied Bob Jones with 85 points but won the tiebreaker.  Brenau won the team event with an overwhelming 34 points, placing all five of their top runners in the top-13.  Brittany Aikens won the race in 20:56.

Kira Emmett was 19th for SWU with a time of 22:23.  Caroline Hudson and Emily Harper took 23rd and 24th to round out the scorers for the Warriors.

Southern Wesleyan will have another week off before traveling to Toccoa Falls on Oct. 12.  After that the Warriors will have just one more race before entering the SSAC Championships.
