SWU Women's Soccer Falls in Double OT

Box Score

JACKSON, Miss. – An early goal by Grace Taylor wasn't enough for Southern Wesleyan on the road, falling 2-1 in double-overtime to Belhaven in Southern States Athletic Conference action on Saturday night.

Taylor scored the game's first goal, her second of the season, in the 35th minute.  That shot was one of just four in the half, was the only shot on target for the Warriors (2-5-1, 0-2-0 SSAC) in the half.  SWU took only eight shots in the match and put just two on target.  Taylor led the way with three shots.

Belhaven (7-1-0, 1-1-0 SSAC) shot early and shot often in this one.  The Blazers fired off 42 shots in the match but couldn't find the back of the net until the 80th minute.  Belhaven took 21 of their shots in the second half as they tried to find the equalizer, which they finally did as Ashley Harber found the back of the net.  SWU's Krista Anonie made 16 saves in goal, eight of those in the second half.  Fran Glenny knocked home the game-winner in the 106th minute for the Blazers.

Southern Wesleyan will return home next weekend to host Spring Hill on Friday and No. 17 Mobile on Saturday.  Both matches are slated for a 5 p.m. start.
