Women's Soccer Fights to a Draw with Milligan

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. – Southern Wesleyan women's soccer finished their first match of the season in a 1-1 draw in double overtime with Milligan College on Tuesday night. The Warriors were playing their first game under head coach Corey Morrell.

Milligan grabbed the early lead in the 13th minute as Teagan Wood knocked home the first goal of the season for Milligan. SWU answered just before halftime as Ruva Chimedza beat the keeper in the 43rd minute.

The big story on the night was the difference in shots, as Milligan fired off 44 in the four periods, including 20 in the first half. SWU was responsible for only eight total shots in the match. Krista Anonie was clutch for the Warriors, making 19 saves in the match which includes four in the second overtime.

SWU will open at home on Saturday (8/31) as they host Columbia College (SC) at 5 p.m.
