Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan Men's Basketball and Head Coach Joel Stites are excited to announce two additions to the coaching staff beginning this fall. The program will be joined by former player Logan Hockaday and local coaching legend Ryan Breazeale.
A native of Watkinsville, Georgia, Logan Hockaday will join the Warriors coaching staff after graduating from Southern Wesleyan this past spring. He spent time playing college basketball for The University of Toccoa Falls before transferring to play at Southern Wesleyan in the fall of 2024. While attending SWU, he worked with the staff as a Student Assistant for the last two seasons and was a part of a lot of success coming from the men's basketball team.
"I am looking forward to building off what we've already accomplished," commented Hockaday.
"Coach Hockaday is like family," mentioned Coach Stites. "I've been blessed to coach him as a player and as my student assistant. He's such a great young man who works very hard. Having a SWU alumnus on the staff is powerful! We are excited to get back to work!"
Ryan Breazeale will bring 16 years of coaching experience to the Warriors' bench this season. For over seven years, he has served as the co-director and coach at Next Level Elite, an organization that is focused on basketball player's development and exposure while assisting them in expanding their skills, basketball IQ and overall performance. While coaching there, he has helped guide over forty players to the next level of their basketball careers in higher education. From 2016-18, Coach Breazeale served as an assistant coach at Allen University. As a player, he spent time at both Francis Marion University and Spartanburg Methodist College. Throughout his coaching career, Braezeale has instructed under the mindset that, "you will always be noticed, the perception is reliant on you!"
"I'm beyond excited to join an elite coaching staff at SWU!" commented Breazeale. "God has definitely placed me here and it's a blessing to be surrounded by like minded individuals!"
"I am very excited to add Coach Breazeale to our staff!" said Stites. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience. Coach is a South Carolina native and is very in tune with the state's basketball landscape. We know that will help us garner more exposure across the state. We have been friends for several years now and it's a blessing to be able to have him join an incredible group!"
