How It Happened

College of Charleston won the opening jump ball and Braden Pierce quickly got up a jump shot in the paint.  The Warriors fought back in their opening exhibition game as Jake Hatch knocked down a three.  Jeremiah Camara tipped the ball into the basket off a missed shot to allow the Warriors to take a 7-4 point lead.  Baskets by Isaiah Smith and Malachi Cooper allowed Southern Wesleyan to continue their seven point run before a layup by Will Mortimore put a stop to the Warriors.  A reverse layup by Mortimore gave College of Charleston back the lead.  Jayden Guillaume laid the ball up to tie the game up once more.  Southern Wesleyan went on the run again as Jaren Morton pulled down a rebound and passed it down the court to Jake Hatch.  Hatch laid the ball up to put the Warriors on top.  However, it was short lived as Eli Ellis knocked down a three pointer.  With just under twelve minutes left in the half, Jackson Moore hit a three of his own to give Southern Wesleyan back the advantage.  Ben Bradford went on a seven point run on his own to allow College of Charleston to take a seven point lead.  The Warriors cut the Cougars lead down to five as Zion Dixon put up a mid-range.  College of Charleston pressed on as Xavier Abreu stole the ball away from the Warriors and raced down the court to slam the ball into the basket.  Eli Ellis knocked down another three pointer to extend the Cougars lead to fifteen.  A final second basket by Trey Scott III allowed the Cougars to take a 52-26 point lead at half.

Ben Bradford kicked off the second half as he knocked down a three pointer.  The Warriors answered as Jeremiah Camara and Isaiah Smith each got the ball into the basket.  Braden Pierce got an offensive rebound and passed it out beyond the arc to Max Green who got the ball into the net.  Will Mortimore continued to challenge Southern Wesleyan's defense as he got up several more points for the Cougars.  The Warriors answered as Zion Dixon got up to lay the ball up into the basket.  College of Charleston would not relent as Xavier Abreu, Tavari Johnson and Trey Scott III each sunk shots.  With just under twelve on the clock, Jackson Moore passed the ball out to Isaiah Smith.  Smith hit a three pointer to put the Warriors behind the Cougars 76-40.  Kobe Edwards got down the court and laid the ball up into the basket.  The Cougars pressed on as Jashawn Ladd slammed the ball into the basket.  Southern Wesleyan was not done as RJ Lacossade got up a layup for the Warriors.  Conner Groce hit a mid-range, but the Warriors answered as Lacrossade laid the ball up seconds later.  In the final minute and a half of the game, D'marcus Thomas forced the Cougars to turn the ball over and quickly knocked down a three pointer.  College of Charleston answered his attack with a three of their own out of the hands of Nicolo Virginio.  The Warriors fell to the Cougars in a 111-55 final score.
