How It Happened

Eckerd was first on the board as Jaylen Ostenson laid the ball up into the basket.  A three pointer by Ostenson allowed the Tritons to extend their lead to five.  With just under five minutes left in the first quarter, the Warriors were finally able to get on the board as Savanna Nicholson knocked down a three pointer.  However, the Tritons countered with a three pointer by Ostenson to allow them to take a 10-3 point lead.  Eckerd pushed on, but Kyra Price got up a layup to keep the Warriors within ten.  Peyton Looky hit a three pointer in the final seconds of the quarter.

The Tritons continued their attacks in the second quarter as Sarah Racaud laid the ball up into the basket off a pass from Jaylen Ostenson.  Makayla Raines hit a three pointer, but the Tritons continued to push ahead with a layup by Ieva Korzane.  Peyton Looky knocked down her second three pointer of the game.  Looky pressed on as she laid the ball up into the basket to put the Warriors back within thirteen.  With just over six minutes left in the first half, Raines put up a mid-range jump shot.  The Warriors continued to chip away at the Tritons lead as Trinity Nesbitt made a layup and was fouled in the process to earn the and-one basket.  The Tritons would not back down, though, as Racaud hit a three pointer.  Eckerd's Savannah Borozwicz fouled Makayla Raines while she attempted a free throw shot to send her to the charity stripe.  Raines hit all three of her attempts to put the Warriors behind the Tritons 49-29 going into the locker room.

An early foul by the Warriors allowed Emma Egan to go to the charity stripe where she hit one of her attempts to allow the Tritons to take the first point of the third quarter.  Savanna Nicholson stepped beyond the arc and put up a three pointer to put the Warriors back within eighteen.  The Warriors continued their attacks as Peyton Looky hit a three pointer off a fast break.  However, the Tritons answered with a three pointer by Lisa Michaelsen.  After Emily Gamon pulled down a defensive rebound, she passed it out to Makayla Raines who wove around the Triton defense and laid the ball up into the basket.

DeYana Hayes laid the ball up into the basket early in the final quarter of the game.  Savannah Borowicz and Ieva Korzane put up three pointers to allow the Tritons to extend their lead to thirty-one.  Emily Gamon put up a mid-range jump shot.  Borowicz hit another three pointer for the Tritons.  After a foul occured by the Tritons, Kyra Price went to the charity stripe and hit both her baskets.  Price attacked the net once again as she laid the ball up into the basket.  With just over two minutes left in the game, Makayla Raines hit another three pointer.  Despite a final second jump shot by Danielle Earley, the Warriors fell to the Tritons in a 95-58 final score.
