Chattanooga, TN – Southern Wesleyan fell in the exhibition game against the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in a 97-46 final score on Tuesday evening.
The Warriors shot 27.8% from the field on Tuesday. Peyton Looky led the team with eight points. Behind her, Savanna Nicholson had nine points and Faith Yelton totaled eight points. Danielle Earley had two of the eight assists.
Southern Wesleyan collected 27 rebounds during the game with both Faith Yelton and Esther Cole having four. Three Warriors followed with three rebounds to their names. Savanna Nicholson had the only two blocks of the evening. The Warriors stole the ball away seven times with Emily Gamon having three of the steals.

How It Happened
UT Chattanooga was first on the board as Caia Elisaldez laid the ball up into the basket. Kyra Price got up a layup of her own to tie the game up at two. The Mocs answered, but the Warriors pressed on with a layup out of the hands of Danielle Earley. However, back-to-back three pointers by Ava Card allowed Chattanooga to extend their lead to 10-4. Peyton Looky and Makayla Raines each put up jump shots, but the Mocs knocked down a couple more three pointers to maintain their ten point lead.
Faith Yelton kicked off the second quarter by knocking down a three pointer. Southern Wesleyan continued to fight as Savanna Nicholson hit a three pointer. However, layups by Kami Wilson and Caia Elisaldez allowed the Mocs to extend their lead to 32-19. Ava Card knocked down another three pointer. With just over two minutes left in the first half, Peyton Looky laid the ball up and was fouled in the process to earn the and-one basket. UT Chattanooga's Izzy McPherson hit a last second three pointer to allow the Mocs to lead 53-25 going into the locker room.
The Mocs continued their attacks as Kalifa Ford hit an early three. Southern Wesleyan answered with a three pointer out of the hands of Kyra Price. Chattanooga would not relent as Gianna Corbitt and Ford each laid the ball up into the basket. Peyton Looky drove to the basket a couple more times. With just over two minutes left in the quarter, Sarah Owona got the ball under the basket to Evie Bruce who laid it up. The Warriors pressed on as Savanna Nicholson drove under the basket and laid the ball up. Esther Cole sent the ball out beyond the arc to Nicholson. Nicholson stepped back and hit her second three pointer of the game.
Caia Elisaldez hit an early three pointer in the final quarter of the game to allow UT Chattanooga to extend their lead to 82-37. A couple of fouls by the Warriors sent the Mocs to the charity stripe were both Gianna Corbitt and London Weaver made free throws. Peyton Looky laid the ball up into the basket with just under five minutes left in the game. Faith Yelton got up a layup and was fouled in the process to earn the and-one basket. UT Chattanooga persisted as they won the game in a 97-46 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will continue exhibition play on January 1 as they travel over to Spartanburg, SC to take on the Wofford Terriers. They will resume Conference Carolinas action on January 3 as they travel over to Due West, SC to take on the Erskine Flying Fleet at 2pm. The Warriors will host the Emmanuel Lions on January 7 at 5pm.
