How It Happened

Shorter put up the first basket of the game as Aijah Manning put up a mid-range jump shot.  The Warriors answered as Kyra Price and Makayla Raines knocked down back-to-back three point shots to give Southern Wesleyan the lead.  Amiya Redus put up a three pointer of her own, but the Warriors pressed on as Savanna Nicholson passed the ball out beyond the arc to Peyton Looky who put up her only three pointer of the game.  Amya Patterson laid the ball up into the basket to tie the game up at nine.  The Warriors pressed on as Lexie Ransom hit a three pointer off a pass from Looky.  Shorter took the lead as Patterson put up a three of her own.  The Hawks would not relent, but a last second three pointer out of the hands of Nicholson kept them within three pointers of the Hawks.

The Hawks maintained their offensive intensity in the second quarter as Ahtiana Benway put up a jump shot.  Baskets by Aijah Manning and Benway allowed them to extend their lead to 30-21.  Savanna Nicholson drove to the basket and laid the ball up into the net.  With just under six minutes left in the quarter, Danielle Earley got up a mid-range jump shot.  However, Shorter answered with a jump shot of their own out of the hands of Manning.  The Hawks continued to press ahead as Manning scored her thirteenth point of the game off a layup to give Shorter a 41-29 point lead going into the locker room.

An early foul by the Warriors in the third quarter allowed Aijah Manning to make a couple free throws.  Kyra Price laid the ball up into the basket.  Shorter pressed on with baskets by Amiya Redus and Manning.  With just under five minutes on the clock, Princess McCauley drove to the basket and laid the ball up.  Peyton Looky pulled down a rebound and passed the ball down to Lexie Ransom.  Ransom fired off her second three pointer of the game to keep the Warriors within twenty.

Southern Wesleyan continued to fight back in the final quarter of the game as Princess McCauley hit a mid-range jump shot.  Lexie Ransom knocked down yet another three pointer.  However, the Hawks answered as Amiya Redus put up a jump shot to allow Shorter to maintain their twenty point lead.  Danielle Earley got a jump shot into the basket, but the Warriors could not push past the Hawks as they fell in a 69-50 final score.
