Dahlonega, GA – Southern Wesleyan fell to the University of North Georgia Nighthawks on Saturday afternoon in a 121-64 final score.
The Warriors shot 31.3% from the field and were 88.2% from the free throw line. Savanna Nicholson put up four three point shots and went 3-4 on the free throw line to give her 15 total points. Makayla Raines also posted double digits as she had 10 points. Southern Wesleyan had 12 assists in the game with Nicholson leading the team with four. Raines followed with three and Emily Gamon had two.
Southern Wesleyan totaled 19 rebounds in the game with DeYana Hayes leading the time with four. Esther Cole was right behind her with three rebounds. Peyton Looky, Trinity Nesbitt and Emily Gamon each blocked attacks by the Nighthawks. The Warriors stole the ball away three times.

How It Happened
North Georgia took the first point of the game as Hannah Cail hit a three pointer. Southern Wesleyan answered as DeYana Hayes laid the ball up into the basket. Averia Jones hit back-to-back three pointers to extend the Nighthawks lead to 9-2. Jones would not back down as she hit several more three pointers. Savanna Nicholeson got the ball out to Makayla Raines who put up a jump shot. With just over two minutes left in the first quarter, Lexie Ransom stepped out beyond the arc to hit a three pointer.
The Nighthawks continued to press ahead as Caroline Martin laid the ball up into the basket. The Warriors countered as Peyton Looky put up a layup of her own. With just under seven minutes left in the first half of the game, Makayla Raines passed the ball out beyond the arc to Savanna Nicholson. Nicholson got up and sunk a three pointer to put the Warriors behind the Nighthawks 48-18. DeYana Hayes and Raines hit back-to-back jump shots. Maddie Miller hit another three pointer for North Georgia. Zaynah Preston laid the ball up into the basket to give North Georgia a 71-31 point lead going into the locker room.
Makayla Raines kicked off the third quarter for the Warriors as she knocked down a three pointer. However, Averie Jones hit yet another three pointer for the Nighthawks. Raines would not back down as she hit another three pointer. North Georgia continued to distance themselves from Southern Wesleyan as Hannah Cail and Zaynah Preston got up shots. Savanna Nicholeson stepped beyond the arc and hit another three pointer.
To jump start the final quarter of the game, Danielle Earley laid the ball up into the basket. The Warriors pressed on as Savanna Nicholson passed the ball under the basket to Kyra Price. Price laid the ball up into the basket. North Georgia continued their attacks on the basket as Kendall Emener and Zaynah Preston got up lay-ups. Maddie Millar knocked down a three pointer. With just over four minutes left in the quarter, Faith Yelton hit a three pointer. Savanna Nicholson hit her fourth three pointer of the game with just over two minutes left on the clock. North Georgia went on to win the game in a 121-64 final score.

Southern Wesleyan will hit the road to Young Harris, GA on December 3 to take on the Young Harris Mountain Lions. They will remain on the road on December 6 as they travel to Spartanburg, SC to take on the Converse Valkyries. On December 13, the Warriors will travel to Banner Elk, NC to take on the Lees-McRae Bobcats.
