Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan University and Head Coach Trey Stewart are excited to welcome the next signee in the Men's Track & Field signing class. The Warriors will welcome Christopher "Happy" Lea to Central this upcoming fall semester.
Happy Lea will join the Warriors via Woodruff, South Carolina. A versatile athlete, he competed in several track and field events for Woodruff High School. He holds several records for Woodruff High School including records in the 110 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles, 400 meter hurdles and the 4x400 meter relay.
Throughout his career, he has been named all-region twice in the 110 meter hurdles, and once in both the javelin and the high jump. He went on to also receive Field Region Athlete of the Year honors. His skill in the 110 meter hurdles continued as he received All-State and State Medalist honors. He went on to receive medalist honors at the Nike Outdoor Nationals in the 400 meter hurdles and javelin in the emerging elite division. Some of his other accolades include Coaches Award, most valuable track athlete, most valuable field athlete and four time team captain.
Lea is not only stellar athlete in several events in Track & Field, but he also has received the All A's award in academics. He graduated from Woodruff High School with honors and is a national student athlete scholar.
His favorite Bible verse is from 2 Chronicles 15:7. The verse reads, "Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded."
