Young Harris, GA – Southern Wesleyan was swept by the Young Harris Mountain Lions on Friday afternoon. They dropped both games in 4-2 final scores.
The Warriors totaled six hits in the first game with Olivia Haag leading the team with two hits. Haag and Talissa Cannady each doubled. Both Haag and Addi Johnson had RBIs. Southern Wesleyan walked two times and both Hannah Truett and Madison Truett were hit by pitches. Haag started on the mound and pitched all six innings while striking out three batters.
Southern Wesleyan had three hits in game two. Addi Johnson had two hits and the other hit came off the bat of Madison Truett. Both Johnson and Truett doubled. Abby Schreiner had the lone RBI of the game. The Warriors walked four times and Johnson stole a base. Jaelyn Montfort started game two and pitched three innings. Amberly Way came in to pitch in relief and struck out one.

How It Happened
Game One
A home run by Carey in the bottom of the first inning allowed Young Harris to take the early lead.
Southern Wesleyan answered in the top of the second inning. Hannah Truett led off the inning by reaching first after being hit by a pitch. She advanced to third base when Talissa Cannady hit a double to right field. With two in scoring position, Olivia Haag singled to left field to bring Truett in to score to tie the game up 1-1.
The Mountain Lions attacked again in the bottom of the fourth inning as a single by Duncan brought Carey in to score. Young Harris continued to attack the plate as they brought runs in to score in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings to extend their lead to 4-1.
Olivia Haag led off the top of the seventh inning with a double to left center field. With Riley Brown pinch running for Haag, Riley Wilson hit a single to short stop to allow Brown to advance to third. A wild pitch allowed Wilson to advance to second and then Taylor Palfrey walked to load up the bases. Addi Johnson hit into a fielder's choice to bring Brown in to score. However, the Warriors dropped game one in a 4-2 final score.
Game Two
Southern Wesleyan attacked the plate early in game two. In the top of the first inning with one out, Addi Johnson hit a single through the left side and then stole second base. On a passed ball on the fourth pitch, Johnson advanced to third and Avery Mercer walked. Chalee Roper came in to pinch run for Mercer and advanced to second on a passed ball. Another passed ball allowed Johnson to score and put Roper on third base. Amberly Way walked. With runners on the corners, Abby Schreiner hit a sacrifice fly out to left field to bring Roper in to score and give the Warriors a 2-0 run lead.
Young Harris countered in the bottom of the second inning as a sacrifice fly brought one run in. They pushed on to take a 4-2 run lead in the bottom of the third inning. Young Harris went on to claim the game two victory.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will welcome the North Greenville Crusaders to Varsity Field on April 13 for a doubleheader beginning at 2pm. They will celebrate their five seniors (Addi Johnson, Charity Dennis, Jaelyn Monfort, Emmy Copeland and Maddy Hairston) prior to the game in a ceremony beginning at 1:30pm. The Warriors will travel to Augusta, GA on April 16 to take on the Augusta Jaguars in non-conference action.
