Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell in the opening double header against the North Greenville Crusaders on Saturday.
The Warriors totaled 10 hits in game one with Cam Mitchem leading the team with three including a double. The lone RBIs of the game came off the bats of Zachary Kim and Gage Shaver. Jack Dennison walked, and the Warriors were hit by pitches four times. Christopher Hund started on the mound and pitched 2.2 innings while striking out five batters. Jacob Webb and Adrian Abad each struck out three, and Kennan Worley struck out two.
Southern Wesleyan was unable to get a hit in game two. Cam Mitchem walked. Nick Vollmert started on the mound and pitched six innings while striking out seven batters.

How It Happened
Game One
North Greenville took the first runs of the game in the top of the second inning off a home run by Dierdorf and a single by Powell.
The Warriors countered in the bottom of the second inning. With two outs, Josh Long was hit by a pitch and then advanced all the way to third as Jackson Mix hit a single up the middle. With runners on the corners, Tyler Jackson singled through the left side to bring Long in and cut the Crusaders lead in half.
However, the Crusaders would not back down as they plated 11 runs in the top of the third inning to extend their lead.
Southern Wesleyan fought back in the bottom of the third inning. Cam Mitchem led off the inning with a single. Jack Dennison followed with a walk. Zachary Kim followed with a single to right field that brought Mitchem in to score and advanced Dennison to third. With runners on the corners, Gage Shaver hit a single through the left side to bring Dennison across home plate. An error allowed Tyler Jackson to reach third and brought Kim in to score to put the Warriors behind the Crusaders 13-4.
The Crusaders extended their lead once again as they scored runs in the top of the fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Southern Wesleyan brought another run in to score. Blayze Haddock reached first on a dropped third strike passed ball and then advanced to second on a ground out by Josh Long. Luke Staton followed with a single through the left side to bring Haddock across home plate.
North Greenville scored two more times in the top of the eighth inning to win game one in a 22-5 final score.
Game Two
The Crusaders attacked early in the second game of the afternoon as they plated two runs in the top of the first inning. They went on to score in the third, fourth and seventh innings to take a 10-0 run victory over the Warriors.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will wrap up the series against the North Greenville Crusaders on March 3 at 2pm. They will then travel to Due West, SC on March 8-9 to take on the Erskine Flying Fleet. Southern Wesleyan will then host the Mars Hill Lions on March 12 at 5pm.
