Warriors Fall to Lions on the Road

Franklin Springs, GA – Southern Wesleyan fell on road to the Emmanuel Lions on Friday evening in a 3-0 final score.

The Warriors had 16 kills against the Lions.  Megan Gilliland, Michaela Andress and Gracie Wilson each had three kills.  Amiyah Spann led the team with six assists and the lone service ace.  Andress had nine of the 28 digs.

How It Happened

Set One

The Lions took the first point off a kill by Alaina Emminger.  However, a kill by Megan Gilliland allowed the Warriors to tie the set up.  Kills by Gracie Wilson and Gavrielle Elswick allowed the Warriors to take the lead.  Emmanuel pushed on as kills by Emily Hanson allowed the Lions to take the lead.  An ace by Bailey Schuler extend the Lions lead to eight points.  Emmanuel went on to take the first set in a 25-9 final.

 

Set Two

Alaina Emminger put down a kill to give the Lions an early lead.  However, Amiyah Spann passed the ball over to Megan Gilliland for a kill to allow the Warriors to tie the set.  The Lions regained the lead on kills by Emminger and Emily Hanson.  Southern Wesleyan took the lead on kills by Gavrielle Elswick and Trinity Eichman.  Emmanuel would not relent as Samantha Dibene blocked the Warriors attack to allow them to maintain the lead.  Spann served an ace to keep the Warriors within eight points of the Lions.  Despite late kills by Gracie Wilson and Micheala Andress, the Warriors fell in the second set to the Lions in a 25-10 final.

 

Set Three

Southern Wesleyan took the early lead on back-to-back kills by Emma Ronaldson.  Kills by Ellie Jackson allowed the Lions to take a 3-2 point advantage.  Back-to-back service aces by Bailey Schuler allowed the Lions to extend their lead to five.  Gracie Wilson laid down a kill, but the Lions extended their lead with kills by Gabrielle McGlamery and Cailin Pritchard.  Emmanuel went on to claim the final set of the match in a 25-10 final score.

 

 

 

 

What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will return home on October 28 as they host the Georgia College Bobcats at 2pm.  They will then travel to Hartsville, SC to take on the Coker Cobras on October 31.  The Warriors will travel to Tigerville, SC on November 3 to take on the North Greenville Crusaders.
