Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the Queens University of Charlotte Royals in double header action on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors dropped the first game 12-4. They challenged in game two, but fell in a 16-13 final score
The Warriors collected seven hits in the first game. Both
Josh Galloway and
Zach O'Malley had two hits in the game.
Josh Asbill doubled during the first game.
Parker Pillsbury picked up two of the four RBIs of the game. Southern Wesleyan walked three times and
Chance Fogel stole a base.
Jake Wisniewski started the first game and pitched 4.1 innings while striking out five batters.
Devyn Bond came in to pitch in relief for the Warriors.
Southern Wesleyan recorded 17 hits in the second game of the afternoon. Three Warriors recorded three hits in game two.
Ty King Richards,
Josh Galloway and
Josh Asbill doubled, and
Clifton Olmstead recorded two home runs. Both
Josh Galloway and
Clifton Olmstead had three RBIs. Southern Wesleyan walked four times, and both
DJ Ludwick and
Juan Garcia stole bases.
Sean Sutay started game two and pitched 4.1 innings.
Andrew Patterson,
Ash Faulk and
TJ McEvilly all came in to pitch in relief. Faulk led the team with two strikeouts.

How It Happened
Game One
Queens attacked early as they brought two runs in to score in the top of the first inning.
Southern Wesleyan cut the Royals lead in half in bottom of the first inning. With one out,
Chance Fogel walked.
Josh Galloway knocked a single through the right side to allow Fogel to advance to third base.
Parker Pillsbury flew out to center field to allow Fogel to come in and score to put the Warriors down 2-1.
The Royals continued to push ahead as they brought runs in to score in the top of the second and third innings to take an 8-1 run lead.
The Warriors continued to challenge in the bottom of the fourth inning. With one out,
Ty King Richards singled to center field.
Josh Asbill drilled the ball to right field for a double to bring King Richards in to score. With two outs and Asbill at second base,
DJ Ludwick singled to center field to bring in the third Warrior run of the game.
Queens pushed further ahead with a home run by Dillon Lewis. They went on to bring three more runs in to score in the top of the fifth.
Southern Wesleyan was not done as
Chance Fogel led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a walk. Fogel then stole second base to put him in scoring position. A single to right field by
Josh Galloway allowed Fogel to advance to third base.
Parker Pillsbury hit into a fielder's choice that took Galloway off second, but allowed Fogel to score. However, the Royals went on to win the game in a 12-4 final.
Game Two
The Royals charged out of the gate in the second game of the afternoon as a home run by Jacobson gave them an early 3-0 run advantage. They extended their lead further in the top of the second inning as a single by Sasapan allowed Cheek to come in and score.
Southern Wesleyan challenged back in the bottom of the second inning.
Zach O'Malley led off with a walk and then advanced to second on a wild pitch. With one out and a runner in scoring position,
Clifton Olmstead drilled the ball over the left center field wall for a home run to allow the Warriors to cut the Royals lead in half.
Queens regained their four run advantage in the top of the third inning as they brought two more runs in to score.
The Warriors were not deterred however as
Juan Garcia led off the bottom of the third inning with a walk. Garcia then stole second base. With two outs and Garcia in scoring position,
Josh Galloway doubled to left center field to bring Garcia in to score.
Zach O'Malley then singled to right field to bring Galloway in to score and put the Warriors down 6-4.
The Royals continued to push ahead as a double by Brassington and home run by Jacobson put them on top 10-4.
Southern Wesleyan continued to push ahead in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Clifton Olmstead led off the inning with his second home run of the afternoon as he hit the ball deep over the left field wall.
DJ Ludwick then singled to third base and advanced to second on a passed ball. Another passed ball allowed Ludwick to move to third base.
Juan Garcia hit a sacrifice fly out that allowed Ludwick to come across home plate. With two out,
Chance Fogel walked.
Ty King Richards hit the ball down the left field line for a double that allowed Fogel to come in. An error allowed
Josh Galloway to reach first and brought King Richards in to score and put the Warriors down 10-8.
Zach O'Malley then hit a single up the middle to allow Galloway to advance to second. A single by
Parker Pillsbury allowed Galloway to come home and put the Warriors within one run of the Royals.
The Warriors struck again in the bottom of the fifth inning.
DJ Ludwick led off the fifth with a single to center field and then stole second to put him in scoring position. Ludwick then advanced to third on a fly out to right field by
Juan Garcia. With two outs and Ludwick ninety feet from home plate,
Chance Fogel singled to left field to allow Ludwick to come in and score to tie the game up at ten runs apiece.
Queens was not deterred as Dillon Lewis hit a two run home run over the center field wall to put the Royals back on top 12-10.
With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, the Warriors challenged once again.
Parker Pillsbury singled through the left side and then advanced to second on a single by
Clifton Olmstead.
DJ Ludwick singled through the right side to allow Pillsbury to come in to score to put Southern Wesleyan back within one run of Queens.
The Royals pushed further ahead in the top of the seventh inning as they brought two more runs in to score.
Southern Wesleyan challenged again in the bottom of the seventh. With two outs,
Ty King Richards singled to left field.
Josh Galloway brought King Richards in to score as he singled down the right field line.
With one out in the bottom of the eight, the Warriors challenged again.
Clifton Olmstead walked and then came in to score on a double to left center by
Josh Asbill to put the Warriors down 14-13.
However, the Royals pushed ahead to win the second game 16-13.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain at home on April 12 as they host the Limestone Saints at 6 p.m. on Dr. C Keith Connor Field. The Warriors will then travel to Due West, SC on April 15-16 to take on the Erskine Flying Fleet. They will then return to Dr. C Keith Connor Field on April 22-23 to host the Belmont Abbey Crusaders.
